Folded: the cover display

As Apple designed iPhone Duo, iOS moves the tab bar and the back button into the vertical rail at the side of the display, and FC Sim 27 uses iOS's own bars, so they sit exactly where the rest of your phone puts them. Open: the inner display

Unfold the phone and you get a manager's desk. FC Sim 27 lays out its wide screens for the inner display, with one more level on screen at once:

• Two-pane screens. Transfers shows the market on one side and the player you picked on the other, so you can make an offer without leaving the list. Competitions puts the table beside the club you tapped, Squad puts your formation beside your XI and bench, and the Inbox puts rival bids beside the news.
• The live match beside its controls. The pitch takes one side, sized to the display and never stretched, while the dock holds the scoreboard, the clock, the match timeline, the speed and camera controls. At half time the pitch stays up while you give the team talk beside it.
• The Hub as a board. Your next match, form and board target on one side, your manager card, the league and your club tiles on the other.
• Turn it either way. The inner display works on its side and upright, and the layout follows.

Hold iPhone Duo partly open and the inner display folds down its centre. FC Sim 27 is built so that nothing you need to tap sits on that crease. Two-pane screens split exactly at the fold, with space at each pane's inner edge. Buttons at the foot of a page, like Submit Offer or Start the season, sit in one half. Pop-up sheets open as iOS's own sheets, which iOS places clear of the fold. In the match, the pitch sits on one side and every control sits on the other.
